A single-herb liquid extract of dried roots of Rhaponticum carthamoides, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Maral root is a robust alpine perennial of the Altai and the Sayan mountains of southern Siberia and Mongolia, with deeply cut leaves and a single large violet thistle-like head on a stout stem. Its English and Russian names come from the maral, the Siberian red deer, which is said to dig for the root in spring. The rootstock is dark, woody and aromatic.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use by anyone under 18, in pregnancy, or by anyone with high blood pressure or a heart condition. Do not take it late in the day.
